Yoga for Horse Riders.

Karen has been enjoying yoga for several years and has seen so many benefits. Realising how much it complements and correlates with the teaching of riding and training horses, Karen was prompted to train to teach yoga.
In 2022 Karen qualified as a Yoga Teacher and is now loving teaching yoga along side schooling horses and coaching riders to train their horses.

Yoga for all

Although Karen teaches yoga to a lot of horse riders, it really can benefit everyone and her classes are open to everyone, both riders and non riders are always very welcome.

“Yoga is great for all ages from toddlers to 90 year olds. It can help you to feel better both mentally and physically, balancing your body, mind and spirit.”

“To start practicing yoga you really don’t have to be flexible, fit, mobile, strong, big, little or anything else. Yoga can benefit everyone!“
Yoga is a great way to stretch and strengthen your body, focus your mind, and relax your spirit.

Karen has trained in Hatha Yoga, in addition to learning to teach yoga poses on the mat, she is trained to adapt the poses for chair yoga and uses blocks, bolsters and other equipment to help students to gain body awareness and find the pose that feels right for their body, aiding the benefits of yoga.

Human Anatomy

Karen has a particular interest in anatomy, physiology and the fascial chains within the human body. This helps her to intertwine the yoga with rider biomechanics and movement in every day life.
“Knowing how your body works can really help how we move both off the horse, in every day life, as well as when riding”.
Karen is committed to continual self development and enjoys sharing the benefits with her students in both yoga and riding.

Breath control

Pranayama focuses on breathing and helps balance the subtle energy in the body, which is known in yoga as prana.
It’s also proven to support multiple aspects of physical health, including lung function, blood pressure, and brain function.

Karen finds Pranayama fascinating and very effective for all; non riders, professionals, competitors and leisure riders. It can help to both increase energy or calm a person. Horses are very tuned into the prana, just notice how your horse picks up on your mood, maybe your nerves!

Focus

Karen’s training also covered Meditation which is also a great part of improving focus and awareness, building confidence, reducing stress, gaining a new perspective which are all essential for riders and life in general.

Great Results!

Karen’s students are noticing many benefits from attending weekly yoga classes, including more mobility in stiff or injured bodies, improved riding skills, more focus when riding and greater confidence, feeling calmer, better nights sleep, more energy….we could go on!
